Replacing Poly B Piping Across Kelowna & The Okanagan
Do you know if your commercial facility has poly B pipes? Poly B piping is prone to failure, and should be replaced ASAP to avoid costly damage. Our experts can also help with your residential poly b plumbing across Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, and surrounding Okanagan areas.

What Is Poly B Piping?
Polybutylene piping, more commonly known as poly B piping, is a type of plastic plumbing pipe that was commonly used in residential and commercial plumbing systems from the late 1970s through the mid-1990s. It gained popularity due to its relatively low cost and ease of installation. However, as the years went on, it became evident that poly B was not a suitable material for plumbing. Poly B pipes break down and leak regularly, leaving business owners and homeowners dealing with severe damages and costly repairs.

Do I Have To Get My Poly B Pipes Replaced?
It’s ultimately up to you, but we highly recommend getting poly B pipes replaced immediately in order to save yourself money, time, and stress in the long term. Many commercial properties still have poly B pipes that are functional, but it is just a matter of time until these pipes fail, leaving you with a lot of water damage and significant repair costs. Need another good reason to replace your poly B pipes? Most insurance companies will not cover buildings that have poly B pipes because of their reputation for causing damage (and those that do cover poly Bs will charge you a hefty premium).
Poly B pipes are usually made of grey or blue coloured plastic. The easiest way to find poly B in your building is to check the pipes under sinks and near water heaters and see if they fit the description. If you think you may have poly B pipes, contact Vision Plumbing Heating Cooling to have us confirm your suspicion and replace them with more reliable pipes as soon as possible.
When Was Poly B Piping Used In BC?
Poly B piping was commonly used in British Columbia during the same time frame as it was used in other parts of North America. It became popular in the late 1970s and was used in residential and commercial plumbing systems throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. However, as concerns about its reliability and durability emerged, its use began to decline in the mid-1990s. In 1997, poly B was banned by the National Plumbing Code and in 2005 the Government of Canada officially removed it from the list of approved plumbing materials.
Many commercial property owners in British Columbia with poly B piping have since replaced it with alternative plumbing materials like copper or PEX due to the issues associated with Poly B pipes. However, there are still plenty of properties that still have poly B pipes that haven’t been addressed. If you have concerns about Poly B piping in your business or commercial space, consult with a plumbing professional for an assessment and potential replacement options.

Elevating Service Every Season
Love their branding too. 😉👍
Michelle in the office arranged to have Dave do an assessment and estimate. Right off the bat I was impressed to receive a text with the date & time Dave would come over. He did. And he immediately left us with a good impression.
Within 30 minutes, we had an education on these systems, what would be the right size for our 1500 sq.ft. home, the process of ordering & installation, and an estimate…with no pressure at all, even knowing we were shopping around.
Well we did go with Vision, and once the hoops on our end were jumped through (educating our Strata Council) we went ahead and confirmed we were ready to get this done.
Within a week, the unit came in, and a few days later, Michelle reached out to asking about a mutually convenient date. We were impressed with their flexibility to match our availability. A date was picked, and a few days before, Brandi from the office sent a text with a head shot of the HVAC technician, Joel, who would be coming over to do the work.
He showed up (on time!) along with his partner, and they got the job done. Part way through the day, the electricians arrived to begin their part, which was completed on my next day off.
Just look at this clean installation in the pictures! We are very pleased with the work done, the punctuality, the cleanliness of the workers and their care and attention to keeping their work areas clean.
Once completed, the office again sent a text, this time with the head shot of Jeff, the inspector. He showed up as promised, then took a good hour to remove covers, measure pressures, check power, amp draws, etc. and make sure all was perfect. And it was. He tested the cooling and the heating operations, provided a ton of good information for me, then we were done.
One more thing - each time one of these technicians came into our place, they complimented us on our home. That goes a long way to increasing your love for a company, doesn't it?!
So, if this is the summer you need a new Mini-Split, I highly recommend Vision Plumbing Heating Cooling. We’ve used our unit for the heat we had these last couple days and absolutely can’t believe what a difference it’s already made in our comfort level.
Thank Your Vision team - all of you!!
He replaced the tank and flushed the system for $1,400—a significant savings compared to the $2,300 quoted by the first company for the same service. I found Alex to be competent, straightforward, and focused only on the services that were genuinely necessary. There was no pressure to upsell, and I truly appreciated his honest and professional approach.
Because of the great experience, I decided to enroll in their annual servicing package for AC, heating, and plumbing. My furnace and AC have already been serviced, and I’ve been very satisfied with the work.
I'm so glad I found Vision Plumbing and Heating—they strike me as honest, reliable, and customer-focused. Highly recommend!
So now I have been charged $100 and still don’t have my washer and dryer hooked up. I will be going with a different company that said it would be $200.
I chose Vision because of the great reviews. I wish someone had warned me what was really going on before I even picked up the phone.
The only good thing about this whole scenario were the technicians who came to my house were very nice. However, this does not justify the extremely high pricing.
The team was courteous and efficient when they arrived to complete everything. Throughout the project both Brent and his team was super transparent and honest which I really appreciated. Minor issues during the job were handled quickly and I was consulted and updated throughout the entire job. The team left the place clean and tidy and I'm pleased with their work. I can't wait to reap the long-term energy savings of the tankless hot water system!
Additionally, I’d like to thank Slavic, the plumber that helped us. He was professional, efficient, friendly and clearly an expert in his field. He genuinely saved the day for us!
Judy
I appreciated his manner and explanation of what he was doing, and have already booked my annual contract for next year through him, which was thoroughly explained and convenient to so while he was at the house.
Well done.
I would highly recommend Vison Plumbing,
Fred Busby
