Get Up to $7,000 When You Install a Heat Pump

If you have been thinking of installing a heat pump, now is a great time to do so, with BC Hydro and the federal government offering significant rebates that can add up to a maximum of $7,000.

Unlike other systems that generate heat by converting fuel or electricity directly, a heat pump efficiently moves heat from one location to another. This sets heat pumps apart from electric furnaces or baseboard heaters in terms of effectiveness. Heat pumps can also provide cooling for your home during the summer.

You might qualify for a total of $7,000 in rebates when you switch from your current electric heating setup to a heat pump. This includes a potential $2,000 from BC Hydro and a maximum of $5,000 from the Canada Greener Homes Grant provided by the federal government.

Eligibility:

  • Your home is on the list of eligible property types
  • Your home is primarily heated by electricity
  • You have a BC Hydro account
  • The heat pump you install is listed on the rebate-eligible heat pump list
  • The heat pump is replacing a primary electric heating system
  • The heat pump is sufficiently sized to function as your home’s primary heating system

For detailed information on eligibility and how to apply, see the BC Hydro website.
